UPEC Electric-Vehicle Feasibility Research

A 2021 research-internship project assessing factors affecting electric-vehicle feasibility and adoption in India.

Context and constraints

Saumya completed this work during a June–July 2021 summer research internship with Université Paris-Est Créteil under Prof. Neha Bharadwaj Upadhyay. The topic was an assessment of factors affecting the feasibility of electric vehicles in India.

Saumya’s contribution

Saumya reviewed an existing 2015 paper, updated relevant information through 2021, conducted a short perception survey, and analyzed its responses.

Approach

The work combined a literature update with a 104-response perception study. The report compared India with countries leading in electric-vehicle adoption, reviewed Indian government incentive programs, and used the findings to discuss adoption challenges and possible policy responses.

Tools and workflow

  • Literature and policy review
  • A 104-response perception survey
  • Comparative country analysis
  • Analysis of adoption challenges

Outcomes

The internship produced a research report containing the updated review, survey analysis, country comparison, and policy recommendations.

Limitations and next steps

The work concluded with the internship report. Further study could revisit the survey with a larger sample and newer policy and market data.
